Spells
by Raven EagleClaw
To me, a spell can be defined as a ritual that is used for a specific
purpose or intent using your own mental and emotional energy, whether
it is the written or spoken word.
When I started learning about spell casting, I found that there was a
vast amount of information on the internet and in books that often
confused me. It was not until a year ago when I started casting spells,
specifically with candle magick, that I realized that when casting a
spell, you have to follow your intuition. Yes, books are good for
information, but they should only be used as a tool or guide. Once I
realized this, I stopped doubting myself and since then have had great
experiences with spell casting.
So, what do you need to do to prepare for a spell? Well, first of all,
you need to know what the purpose or intent of your spell is going to
be. For example, is it going to be a protection spell or a healing
spell? Once you have decided on the intent, you then can write down
what you want to do in the spell.
You need to determine:
- The intent or purpose of your spell. The more specific your spell is the better.
- What elements you will call upon and use in your spell, as
well as what other materials you will need, such as candles, herbs,
crystals, etc.
- The appropriate time to do your spell. There are many ways you
can pick a time do your spell, for me I do my spell casting by the Moon
cycle.
- Waxing Moon - (New Moon to Full Moon) time for new beginnings, positive magickal workings.
- Full Moon - psychic awareness (a good time to do scrying), healing work
- Waning Moon- (From Full Moon to New Moon) is the time to banish negative energies and bad habits.
- The words of power that you will use, whether it is a chant,
just spoken words, or a rhyme. Rhymes are not going to make your spell
any more powerful, than a chant or spoken word will, so if you cannot
rhyme, do not worry. What matters is that whatever you say in your
spell comes from your heart.
- The final draft. Make sure that your spell, once again, is as
specific as possible and that you have thought out everything that is
needed for the spell. Once you have accomplished all of this, you can
perform your spell at the appropriate time that you picked.
Before I go, I want to share with you one last thing; doing spell
casting is serious work. It should not be tampered with, or used as a
cool way to get attention, because it is not. Whether you are Wiccan or
Pagan, spells should not be used in any way to harm or manipulate
people. If you do go ahead and cast a spell to harm or manipulate
someone, then you can expect to receive the Karma you deserve. Please
do not learn the hard way.
Happy Spell Casting
